Since being introduced in 2006, Ironman 70.3 has become the fastest growing triathlon series in the world.

The Aviva Ironman 70.3 Singapore features a combination of the cityscape of Singapore, allowing participants to enjoy breathtaking views of the unique urban architecture in downtown Central Business District, and Singapore's famous greenery at the East Coast Park recreational area.

Ironman China

It is promoted as Asia's ultimate endurance experience – and organisers want Ironman China to be second only in stature to Ironman Kona, the home of Ironman in Hawaii.

The third event was held one month earlier to take advantage of slightly cooler temperatures. However, the day was still very warm as athletes swam in the Nandu River, cycled two 90km laps into the hills and ran 42km – much of it along the river bank.

Ironman 70.3 Austria

New records were set in the men's and women's race at the Ironman 70.3 in St. Pölten. Czech Filip Ospaly finished in 3:46:02 and Dutchwoman Yvonne van Vlerken reached the finish line in 4:18:56.

St. Pölten is 50 minutes drive from Austria's beautiful capital city, Vienna. The race follows a spectacular course through the wine country of Lower Austria and the scenic Wachau region along the Danube River.

Half Challenge Barcelona Maresme

The second edition of the Half Challenge Costa de Barcelona-Maresme was well organized and run in the familiar, friendly Challenge tradition. French athlete Sudrie Sylvain dominated the race from the start and beat his compatriot Francois Chabaud by almost 5 minutes. Finland's Jarmo Harst. First woman home was Tiina Boman, also from Finland, followed by Belgian Sofie Goss and Monika Lehmann from Switzerland.

Ironman South Africa

The sixth edition of the Spec-Savers Ironman South Africa proved to be one of the most exciting and riveting races Port Elizabeth has ever witnessed. Local hero, Raynard Tissink, won for the second time, while Germany's Sonja Tajsich, went up a notch this year to beat her second place finish of last year and earn her maiden Ironman South Africa victory.

Ironman Australia Port Macquarie

Queensland athlete Carrie Lester tackled her first ironman-distance triathlon and her first marathon at Ironman Australia – and won!

She has enjoyed a number of top placings in triathlon races since last September and finished this race in a creditable time of 9:23:50.

Patrick Vernay continued his Ironman Australia domination by winning the title at Port Macquarie for the fourth straight year.

The triathlon begins with a deep water start for the swim, offers one of the most spectacular Ironman bike rides in the world, winding along beside the Pacific Ocean, and has a picturesque marathon course along the Hastings River foreshore and the beaches of Pacific Drive.
