Highland Fling

The Highland Fling, Australia’s MTB Marathon Championship, is a mountain bike marathon for all. It offers a scenic and challenging route through forests and farmland in the Southern Highlands of NSW Australia, hammering singletrack, forest tracks and dirt roads.

About 1500 riders competed in various categories, from the short and sweet 6km Bundanoon dash, the Half Fling (55km), Full Fling (110km) and the 100 mile Fling (160km).
The Highland Fling also doubles as the Australian MTB Marathon Championship..

The Forrest Graperide

The Forrest Grape Ride - a 101km circuit through some of the most stunning scenery New Zealand has to offer. From the Forrest Estate Winery, through Picton and then navigating the stunning Marlborough sounds along Queen Charlotte drive before heading back via Havlock to the Forrest Estate Winery on the outskirts of Blenheim.

More than 2300 riders took part in this year’s event with 17 year old Josh Atkins earning the overall victory by out sprinting the rest of the elite field at the finish in a time of 2h 20mins.

Karapoti 25th Anniversay

The 25th anniversary of the Southern Hemisphere’s longest standing mountain bike race threw up surprise winners in Upper Hutt as Taupo’s Tim Wilding and Rotorua’s Annika Smail dominated the Merida Karapoti Classic.

The 50k ride around Upper Hutt’s rugged and remote Akatarawa Ranges is renowned for testing both body and bike and while the forecasted rain and winds never quite arrived, the storming rides from two unexpected winners were the talking point of the day. More than 1300 riders from eight countries assembled for the event that 25 years ago started New Zealand’s mountain bike movement.

JEANTEX Bike Transalp

Mountain bikers had their chance to participate in an eight-stage alpine tour in the Jeantex BIKE Transalp. Riders in two-member teams travelled a distance of 528km through some of the most beautiful mountain ranges of Germany, Austria and Italy, from Mittenwald to Riva del Garda. Along the way they climbed a total of 18,808m, enjoyed spectacular scenery and faced challenging riding conditions.

The winners were male team Lukas Buchli and Thomas Stoll and female team Milena Landtwing and Kristine Noorgard.
