  • Gold Coast Airport Marathon There's no better place for a mid-winter marathon than Australia's sunny Gold Coast. Warm temperatures, blue skies and beautiful beaches make this two-day event a great weekend away.

  • Midnight Sun Marathon Start your marathon at 10pm, finish in the early hours of the morning – and still the sun is shining. It’s among the world’s northernmost marathons, in the Arctic city of Tromsø, and it’s an experience not to be missed.

  • Blenheim Palace Triathlon It has gardens by Capability Brown, was the birthplace of Winston Churchill and it’s home to one of the world’s most picturesque triathlons. With a range of distances, this is truly an event for all abilities.

  • Great North Swim Windermere, England’s largest lake, is the perfect location for Europe’s biggest open water swimming event. There were three days of racing amid some of the country’s most spectacular natural scenery.

  • Vitality World Triathlon London Alistair Brownlee triumphed on home soil in his second win of the season. The 27-year-old triathlon champ captured his breakaway win with a familiar crowd cheering him on to the Hyde Park finish line.

  • Color Run - Wollongong The happiest 5k on the planet! This paint race celebrates health, happiness and individuality. Pass through colour zones throughout the race - and who knows how you'll end up at the finish. Fun is guaranteed.

  • Bay to Breakers San Francisco’s Zappos.com Bay to Breakers is the oldest consecutively run annual footrace in the world; a staple to the City by the Bay since May 1912. This year's race had more than 40,000 participants.

  • Blue Nose Marathon Every year a new slogan is featured on race t-shirts in a competition open to the Blue Nose community. If anyone had doubts about completing their race this year, the t-shirts offered the encouraging "You nose you can".

  • Yonge Street 10K You can never have too many superheroes around to save the planet. Here they've gathered for a spring training run down Toronto's incredibly long Yonge Street. From end to end it connects Lake Simcoe and Lake Ontario.
